We must be specific with our confession of sin. It is easier to name someone else’s sin than to name our own. General goodness is the refuge of hypocrites. General confession is the refuge of the unrepentant. We are to name our sins, even sometimes to our fellow Christians. “Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed” (James 5:16). Churches have had revival when the body of Christ confesses to each other their sins against each other. This is the cure for the hurts we have caused and have received. Just see what happens when we go seeking and giving forgiveness. After all, being family requires it; survival depends on it.
