Cherished items become valued items! People are valuable because they are made in God’s image. Value them for that. Cherish all people; God does. Add value to the people around you by recognizing their God-given value. Value others as much as you value yourself. Celebrate their lives and learn how to rejoice with them and weep with them. This can warm your heart; this can bless them. This can keep you from being self-centered; it can give you a greater reason to live. A rich man, whose heart was centered in his riches, came to Jesus. “Then Jesus beholding him loved him” (Mark 10:21). Jesus saw one who would walk away sad and still loved and valued him. Jesus saw one who was worth more than the riches that owned him. Be like Jesus in how you value the people you encounter.
