Being a Christian is much more than having a paid-up fire insurance policy; it is much more than having a ticket to heaven.  The first century Christians understood that being a Christian means that you seriously follow Jesus; they were even called followers of the Way.  Until we get serious about following Jesus’ prescribed way of living, as clearly laid out in His teachings, we will continue to become a stumbling block to those who would believe in Him.  Our caricatures of Christianity produce hostility to the gospel.  Lifting up the true Christ by godly living is a powerful drawing influence.

“However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect.”  Acts 24:14a (NIV)
