Paul thought it was his duty to persecute and kill Christians over their claim that Jesus was God’s promised Messiah. “Ludicrous!”, he thought. But this risen One met him on the road. He found out that he was persecuting the promised Messiah of his own religion (Acts 22:7-8). He thought that he was “offering service to God” (Jn 16:2), while all the time he was working against the plan of God. Lord, help us never to be working against you while we think we are working for you! Amen!
“And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He said, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, but get up and enter the city, and it will be told you what you must do.” Acts 9:4-6 (NASB)
