Part of the marks of the sin of our fallenness is that we tend to center on ourselves and make everything about us. Self-centered persons are so focused on themselves that they are blind to their own self-centeredness. They react offendedly if anyone even hints that they are. Unless we do the hard work of facing ourselves and let God do his deeper work of crucifying self, our lives will always be out of balance because of a flawed center.
“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23 (NASB)
