When we move from the obedience of duty to the obedience of love it changes everything; this moves us toward character development and maturity. If we obey because God is watching us, that is the lowest level. To love our Father is the highest motive for keeping the commandments. God is not interested in rote obedience. The bottom line is that obedience is a key component of a genuine relationship with our Abba Father. The wrong kind of obedience is a kind of works righteousness; the right kind of obedience is “faith working by love” for the Father.
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:15
