As we go about our daily lives with its tasks, it is sometimes easy to fall into a habit of grumbling under our breath. This becomes a self-imposed hinderance to truly “doing all things as to the Lord” (Ephesians 6:7). It is contrary to the spirit of Christ who even went to the slaughter, not opening His mouth. Trying circumstances are a test to pass; they are an opportunity to be Christlike. Trade this grumbling habit for a habit of praise and gratitude, wherever we are and whatever we have to endure. In this way we can let our light shine like Jesus and for Jesus.
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing; so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life.” Philippians 2:14-16
