The simple definition of the word holy that we have all been taught is set-apart. We are set-apart negatively from something and positively to something. This was never meant to be a matter-of-fact legalism. It is to be a dynamic relationship of love. Because we are in this love relationship with God, we reject (set-apart from) all loves (idols) that would compete with our love for Him. We cultivate this love relationship (set-apart to) we have with the Father by being with Him and enjoying His presence. This is true holiness.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love” Ephesians 1:4 (KJV).
