Every time we stand at an open grave, we are reminded of our own mortality. Death wants us to think that it has the final word, but it does not. Christ has shown us by His own resurrection that He will see to it that Life has the final word. What is mortal of us shall be laid in the dust. But when the trumpet sounds, we shall be raised. We who have been clothed with mortality will be reclothed with immortality. He who is Life is our life, both now and forever.
“This perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality.” 1 Corinthians 15:53 (NRSV)
