So many things can remind us of our mortality, especially pandemics.  We watch as a disease kills those we love and we wonder how we got by uninfected or with a light case.  Why them and not us?  We are grateful for science and its advances, but we know that, though it may lengthen our lives, in the end it cannot save us from death.  The One who by death conquered death is our hope.  The Origin of Life experienced our death so that we might experience His Life.  We bear witnesses to all mortal humanity of this.  The One whose Spirit entered clay and gave it life, the One who raised the dead Christ, is our hope to return from dust.

Martha *said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”  Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,  and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”  John 11:24-26 (NASB)
