”In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’” (Acts 20:35 ESV). Get a job and earn a living so that you will have something to give to others; this note is sounded several times in the NT. The goal of working and living is not about receiving but giving. It is not about accumulation but it must ultimately be about serving others. It is about developing the kind of life that flows outward rather than on that flows inward; blessings abound there. Without giving we become corrupted and self-serving.
