Too many Christians think they have found a way to serve God and mammon. We measure our blessings mainly by the material. We dream constantly about having more money, bigger and better things. So our chief unspoken prayer is for God to give us more of it. We fantasize about that prayer being answered. We then ask God to nurture our spiritual life as some kind of afterthought. May we desire God more than wealth!
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” Matthew 6:24 (ESV)
