Mary received an amazing announcement from the angel Gabriel. Mary would become the God-Bearer. She would carry in her body the Son of God, Emmanuel Himself. She was a virgin about to have a baby. She would pay a price for that. She had unanswered questions to ponder, but having received a message that was sent from God she bowed to it in obedient surrender. “And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word’” (Luke 1:38). This model surrender encourages us to be God’s partner in His mission of rescue of the world. We too are called to be God-bearers, to surrender to do that is a glorious privilege.
