The mom said, “Jane, what did you learn in Sunday school today?” Jane replied, “I learned that God was really mad at us, but now that Jesus came, God is not mad anymore.” The Father and the Son are not on different pages. They are on the page of love! The God revealed by Jesus is one of lavish love that welcomes the prodigal back. He is the God who is not willing that any should perish. The way we misshape God is the way we misshape ourselves and rob the gospel of its good news. So many persons who call themselves atheists have not rejected the God who is, but the one who has been misrepresented to them.
