We need to keep our antennas up for any signal from a person, or from the Spirit, so that we might minister Christ to those in need. For this we will have to be prayerfully alert. We will need to stop interrupting their speech so that we can get in what we want to say. True listening conversation is rare indeed; this is because of self-focus. Cultivate an others’ focus. I am sad to say that too many times, less than a minute after an encounter, I realize that I missed an opportunity to minister, ah, even to be human. The enemies of these ministry moments are self-focus, preoccupation, busyness, hurry, or even, Lord forbid, lack of compassion.
Oh Spirit, lead us! Check the things in us that keep us from being present, from being Christ, to those that we encounter. May we develop a pattern, a habit, that will increase these ministry moments and decrease failures. Oh, Spirit, please help us to refine the reception on our ministry antennas. Amen!
