We as sheep are fed the best by our Shepherd. He wants us to share this food with the other sheep. He does not want us trampling down and messing up what other sheep could eat. He does not want us muddying their drink as well. How do we do this? By our hostility. By our provincial tribalism. By our undetected racism. By our lack of compassion. By not acting like Christians. The consequences of doing this is worse than a millstone around your neck in the bottom of the sea (Matthew 18:6). We must stop messing up this good-news banquet and making it no longer attractive to the hungry masses of sheep in our world.
“Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture, but you must tread down with your feet the rest of your pasture? When you drink of clear water, must you foul the rest with your feet? And must my sheep eat what you have trodden with your feet, and drink what you have fouled with your feet? Ezekiel 34:18-19 (NRSV).
