“Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Messiah our Savior” (Titus 1:4). Mercy flows to us from the Father through King Jesus. His great mercy has given us a living hope (I Pet 1:3). Without mercy we would be without hope. In Him, mercy triumphs over justice and grace over law. We pray, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me and rescue me!” The sure sign that we as kingdom citizens have truly received God’s mercy is that we give it. It is impossible to understand the cross and do otherwise. The merciful will obtain mercy (Matt 5:7).
