Woe be to the believer (or church) that places no premium on good quality education.  The Bible itself urges us to pursue wisdom.  Mediocrity is satisfied with half-truths.  Half-truths do not produce disciples, only blind zealots.  All biblical truth connects to make one whole.  When we state the faith in such a way that this little pet belief contradicts other biblical truth, then we do not know enough to teach.  Teachers will be judged more strictly (James 3:1), because prepared teachers and preachers matter to the Judge.   We are to study (strive) to show ourselves approved to God.  Mediocrity damages all fields of study including Christianity.  If God has called you to preach or teach you must become a serious and lifelong student.  Every believer should be constantly seeking to expand and deepen their understanding of the faith.

“Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.  Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.  Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.  Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you. She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.” Proverbs 4:5-9 (NIV)
