“So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:17–19 ESV).
The comprehensions and understandings of the church are to be communal. It is not how much I know, but how much we have come to understand together. The church dies or thrives with our collective understandings; this is what drives our mission. Without this we have no vision and without this we become shallow in our comprehension of Christian truth. Rediscovery of truth and fuller understandings of truth can revive us to touch our changing culture with an unchanging message.
