There are critical surrenders in our life that are pivotal and life changing. But all of these surrenders become a pattern for a lifestyle of surrender. The initial surrender is tested and lived out in a lifetime of daily surrenders. We enter more than one door marked “surrender”. This certainly does not mean that each following surrender is to be a battle ground, but it does mean that we live out, in fidelity and faithfulness, our earlier once-for-all vows to the Lord in ongoing daily choices.
Father, I have surrendered and do surrender my life with all of its twists and turns to you. I completely give you myself, and desire always to live that gift out in all the tests that will come. By your grace, enable me to carry out this intent. In Jesus’ Holy Name I pray.
