To the extent that we are not able to love the imperfect, to that same extent we are ungodly/un-God-like/un-Christlike. We certainly know He loves imperfect ones, because He loves us. Perhaps our problem is that we are making ourselves more lovable, since we are less imperfect or more righteous, than the folks with whom we have difficulty loving; they are not our equals. Most of us love our friends and families and they love us.  “For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same?” (Matthew 5:46 NASB).  Father, enable me to love like You love. Cleanse my soul of all that prevents it. Father, Your universal unconditional love is fully demonstrated in Your Son; may He be my exclusive model.  Amen!

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.  For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die.  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (NASB)
