No power is stronger than the power of love. Hate is no match. Love even triumphed over those who tried to crucify it on a cross. When truly experienced, love can melt a heart of stone, break down walls, cover sins, forgive enemies, and reconcile families. It is the most powerful tool at a parent’s disposal. It wins the sinner when condemning his sin will not. It is the secret behind patience and perseverance in longsuffering. It will win the day we thought was lost.
“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things…And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, 13 (NRSV)
