Egypt was salvation for Israel through the slavery of Joseph. The nation was fed and favored through the years of intense famine. 400-plus years later Egypt had become a brutal place of slavery. The God who loved them into Egypt now loved them out of Egypt. The God who loved them through the wilderness “on eagle wings” loved them through the Jordan to the land of covenant. “God is Love!” did not start in the NT; through Jesus Messiah it was revealed that rescuing love had always been the essence of His Father.
