The Word cautions us about being “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” 2 Timothy 3:4 (NASB). It is clear from this text that pleasure has taken the place of God. Anytime anything takes the place of God, it is idolatry. Anytime we love one thing or even a collection of things more than we love God, we have a spiritual problem. Our soul has wobbled off its true Center. Pleasure is the pursuit of what pleases us. Worship is to pursue what pleases God.
