This is a life principle that Jesus often referred to on more than one occasion. If you want to save your life for yourself you will lose it. Jesus asks us to “lose our life for His sake and the gospels so that we might find it”. He asks us to die so that we might live. He asks us to deny our self to free us from the chains of our own selfishness. He gives us more back than we can ever give Him. He gives us back our true self. He gives us back our very lives. We begin to live in a way we could never have dreamed.
“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.” (Mark 8:35 NASB)
