We may think of holiness as avoiding known sin. It is much more than that. It is a pursuit. A race. Someone we run toward – “Looking to Jesus.” It is a path we follow, Christ Our Holy Way. Our call to holiness is a call to union with Christ. Holiness is not something in addition to Jesus, it is Jesus being everything. We do not find personal holiness in objects, places or feelings, only in being united to Him who came to be united to us.
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:1b-2a, 14 (NASB)
