Some persons avoid worship because they do not want to stand before God and make eye contact. We either love the darkness because of sin or we love the Light and come to it. Some atheist will admit that they would have to change some of their behaviors if they believed that there was a God to face and to Whom they must give an account. Professed believers who avoid worship may have more in common with the atheists than they do with the saints of the Most High.
Dallas Willard said, “Refusing to worship Him is a way of trying to avoid His face and His eyes.” The true worshipper looks at the face of God and humbly says with David, “Search me Oh God and see if there be some wicked way in me.”
