The Great Commandment is that we love God with our whole being. This is worship that includes the whole person: body, soul and spirit. We were meant to worship God, to honor Him and live our lives in gratitude to Him. It gives meaning to our lives because it orients us to our Creator. When we are no longer inclined to worship it should deeply alarm our souls; when worship ceases to drive us, it is time for radical repentance. God’s people long for worship. Christ’s ones want to be with Him in prayer and praise, supplication and communion. A decline in worship means that those who like to be called the people of God no longer think it is important to draw near to Him.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” Psalm 42:1-2a (NASB).
