Words on paper are one thing and Living words are another.  Words on paper are what has been said.  Living word is what is being said.  The goal of the Bible is to connect us to the Living Word, Jesus Himself.  He is the full and final word of the Father.  Bible reading that does not keep bringing us to Jesus is a misreading of the very intended purpose of the book. “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me; and you are unwilling to come to Me, that you may have life.” (John 5:39–40 NASB).  Let the Living Word leap into your hearts when you read the written word.  “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”  (John 6:63b). There is life for us in the Living Word.

“They said to one another, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?’” Luke 24:32 (NASB).
