If I understand that I am a living sacrifice, it will greatly affect what I think and do in the middle of human suffering.  Life can be so hard sometimes; it can come at us with wave after wave of troubles.  As painful as life can become, if I understand that my life is a living sacrifice to Jesus, then strangely, my suffering is sanctified.  That which was meant to be against me will be used for me;  that which could break me makes me (Romans 8:28).  We follow a Lord who was the suffering crucified God.  He showed us how to face suffering without complaint, even as a Lamb, “who opened not his mouth”.  In your suffering, worship!

“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”  (Isaiah 43:1b–3a NLT).
