We spend a lot of time being exact about theology and doctrine; this is important. However, we must remember that you may have your thought process off when your heart is right. I heard someone say years ago, “Some people’s lives are better than their theology.” The head and heart should go together, but none of us have perfect mental grasp of all truth. A teaching that makes the personal pursuit of holiness unnecessary falls short. Our theology should lead us to a life of holiness and Christlikeness, not away from it. Faithfulness to God (i.e. faith acting) is more revealing than our belief statements. Trusting trumps knowledge.
“This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13 (NLT)
