The old house was falling down; it was once full of children and their laughter; those old walls had seen joy and sorrow.  In the front yard there were beautiful lilies planted so long ago which come forth each year to bear witness of something beautiful that went before.  After we lay this house aside, this earthly tent called our body and when we have moved on, may we leave something we planted behind, things of beauty, a fragrance that lingers to all those who follow.  May our faithfulness produce fruit and beauty in lives that we have influenced.

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” (2 Corinthians 2:14–15 ESV)
