Rejection is one of the most difficult things we have to face in life. We may be rejected by a spouse, friend, family or a group. The pain can be overwhelming. Jesus knew rejection at multiple levels. We tend to get stuck there. We focus on and blame the rejector. We can let it consume our thoughts and our days. We must not allow rejection to define who we are. We must determine not to fall in the trap of being the victim. We can use it to identify with our Lord and allow it to be a means of a deeper death to self as well as a means of personal growth in holiness.
“The Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.” Luke 9:22 (NRSV)
