It was not fair to Jesus either. Someone lied about me; it happened to Jesus also. My reputation has been damaged by gossip; they said that He was a drunkard. My credentials were questioned; so were His. My friends forsook me; Jesus knows about that. My temptations are great; check out Jesus’ 40 day ordeal. My origins were belittled; they said that He was born of fornication. I am from nowhere; He was from Nazareth. I did not come from a privileged class; He was laid in a feeding trough for sheep. My folks had very little money; His parents were poor. My clothes are not nice; He wore a peasant robe. My house is simple; He had no place to lay His head. I tried to do good and it was called bad; they said He did miracles by the power of the Devil. I was so misunderstood; they constantly twisted His words. Someone bore false witness about me; they even hired false witnesses to testify against Him. I deal with a lot of pain; His back was laid open by the persecutor’s whip. My burdens are heavy; not heavier than His cross, nor the sins of the world. The point of all of this? Whatever you are going through, run to and embrace Jesus; He knows how to comfort and console you. You will gain strength by identification with Him.
