It is easy to look at others and rule them out of our favor because of a flaw, foible or failure. We are sometimes guilty of telling our “ain’t-it-awful” stories about them. Whenever we rule others as unacceptable or unworthy we have set ourselves up as a false god, ruling on who is in and who is out. When we do, we become very much unlike the God who is. The true God loves us unconditionally in spite of our warts, failures and sins. We are forever drawing circles to keep away certain categories of people. Jesus drew a love circle around the whole globe. If He had not, you and I would have been left out.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
