“For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water” Jeremiah 2:13 (NASB). Human kind has a built-in thirst that only God can satisfy. When we reject Him as the source, we are ever on a hunt for something to satisfy that thirst. People dig themselves into deep leaky holes seeking it. Stay with the Fountain! He satisfies!
So long of thirst my weary soul did languish,
And naught of earth my soul could satisfy;
But when to Christ I turned in bitter anguish,
I found in Him the answer to my cry.
Oh, I have found it,—the Crystal Fountain,
Where all my life’s deep needs have been supplied;
So freely flowing from Calv’ry’s mountain,
