Advent Glimpses of our Future

We live in an era of unprecedented information, driven by technology.  We can find information at the tip of our fingers in a split second.  However, we have become those who are, as was prophesied by Paul, “Ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7).  This world tends to want to leave God out, and when we do, there is no knowledge of truth because He is the source of all knowing.  When you study the intricacies and complexities of our earth and the universe you are studying the actions of the God who made it all.  Knowledge was always meant to be married to worship; when it is joined to pride it yields arrogance, which always distorts truth.  One promise of the new earth is, “For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea”  (Isaiah 11:9b).  In that day all will finally see that in the Cosmic Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:2–3).  That revelation will flood the earth with a tidal wave of truth and knowledge (Isaiah 11:9); this knowledge will be wed to the high worship of our glorious King.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.” Psalm 111:10 (NIV)
