The revelation of God found in Christ is God’s ultimate Word for us.  What went before was incomplete.  Words about God have to bear a heavy burden because God is so great; His Reality is too expansive to be borne by mere words.  Having glimpsed inexpressible beauty, words seem clumsy, inadequate, and often fall short.  Jesus Himself is the infallible Word of God.  It does not mean that no more can be known.  Everything before Him was a vision of His coming.  Everything after is a commentary on Him and what His coming means.  Our understanding of Him can be enlarged by pastors and teachers when aided by the Spirit.  We are always to be expanding our understanding of our great God.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, you are very great. You are clothed with honor and majesty, wrapped in light as with a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a tent, you set the beams of your chambers on the waters, you make the clouds your chariot, you ride on the wings of the wind.” Psalm 104:1-3 (NRSV)
