It is not uncommon for a son to take up the business of His father. Even Jesus served as a carpenter for a time in the steps of Joseph. Jesus’ Heavenly Father had business to do in the world. Very early on Jesus came to understand His Father’s business. By the age of twelve it had begun to grip Him. “And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’” Luke 2:49 (NKJV). Whatever our career, whatever our job, our real vocation and our real call as Christians is to be about what our Father is about in this world.
