The Grinding Stone
All the kingdoms of earth, all the governments of men are marked for destruction. It is not just that kingdoms fall because of internal flaws and rot; it is that they will be crushed by another kingdom, The Kingdom of God. King Jesus is a Grinding Stone set to roll over every kingdom on the face of the earth. That Rock grows to become a Kingdom that will fill the whole earth. Build on the Rock of the Kingdom; the other ones are all sand and dry dusty chaff before the Grinding Stone.
“Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. …In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever” (Daniel 2:35a, 44 NIV).
