“We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away” (Hebrews 2:1 NIV).  Human nature is such that we can focus on minor things while neglecting major things.  We chase shiny objects; we pursue popular discussions.  We can neglect truth for trivia.  We can find attractive side roads that take us off the main road.  The writer of Hebrews is admonishing us to be vigilant about the core message of the Son; angels cannot take His place.  Nothing, or no one, is worthy to eclipse Him or His truth.  Read the gospel story; meditate on it.  Stay close to Jesus; keep Him ever in your view.
