When we hold persons as unworthy of our love it impinges on our own happiness and joy. Listing other’s flaws and foibles is seen as justification to not love. A measuring stick for other folks to get “our love” marks us as people who do not understand the great love God has for us. Anyway, it is not “our love” that we are to give away, it is the same kind of love that we have received from God that we give away. To receive that kind of love and give it away is full of joy that has power to banish unhappiness.
Father, we are too prone to use a measuring stick to give others love that You never used on us. Forgive us!
