Joseph was placed in a pit rejected by his brothers. Jesus came to “His own and His own did not receive him” (Jn 1:11). Joseph was sold for 20 pieces of silver. Our Lord was sold for 30. Joseph had false charges brought against him as did Jesus. Joseph was sent to Egypt to save a nation. Jesus was saved from death in Egypt and lived, to die, to save the world. Joseph’s story, not only tells Jesus’ story, it shows us that God is working a greater plan in our lives than we can ever know at the time.
