The disciples are constantly worried about not having enough resources.  Jesus has just fed 4,000 people, and the disciples are fretting over no bread in the boat.  The whole point they were missing, the thing that they could not see nor understand, was that Jesus was the one who could meet their need for bread.  He was their source, and not whether they had 5 loaves, 7 loaves, one loaf, or no loaves (Mark 8:17-21).  Oh, the sufficiency of Christ!  There is abounding grace that is greater than our circumstances with all of its challenges.  As the song writer said, “Jesus is all I need.”

“And Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart?  “HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVING EARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR? (Quote from Jeremiah 5:21).  And do you not remember, when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They *said to Him, “Twelve.” “When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they *said to Him, “Seven.” And He was saying to them, “Do you not yet understand?”  (Mark 8:17-21 NASB).
