Abraham was known as a “friend of God”; he walked with Him in faith and obedience (James 2:20–24). Jesus said, “You are My friends if you do what I command you” (John 15:12-14).  He further said that there was no greater love than “to lay down your life for your friends” (John 15:12-13). Jesus counted sinners as His friends and they got included too.  Though we are His servants, He places us in the position of friends, because He makes known to us the great plan of His Father. “I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father” (John 15:15 NRSV).  We are in on His mission and have become friends in a common task.  Be a loyal friend to Jesus; He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
