A farmer looks forward to the first fruits of harvest. The Father raised the Son from the dead as the first of those who would be brought back to life from death with a new creation body. This is the beginning of “making all things new”. This is the defeat of death. His resurrection is the hope of our resurrection. “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:20 NIV). What a glorious promise! What a blessed hope!
