I was in a man’s place of business one day, and he was on a racial rant.  He was citing “their” differences, which he saw as innate, and not cultural.  Then he confronted this young pastor with the question, “Why did God make black people anyway?”  My response, which may not have been adequate, and it certainly was not comprehensive was this:  “I suppose that since God is so different from us, and He loves us anyway, maybe He created other races to see if we would love them like He has loved us.”  He was silent and said no more.  That was fifty years ago.  I still believe that we are here in this world to give unconditional love to everyone in our lives in the same way God has given lavish unconditional love to us; it looks like the kingdom of God.

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4:10-12 NASB).
