It takes more than determination to be an overcomer, though, of course, we cannot overcome without it. What it takes is to be grace empowered. Self-sufficiency is a stumbling block to grace. Depending too much on ourselves keeps us from depending on Him. Endurance can be the faith that appropriates grace. To get up each morning and put one foot in front of the other, when we don’t feel like it, expresses faith that builds character. When mixed with prayer, it is a cry for grace as we face each new day.
Father, we are determined to walk with You, but we need Your help. We want You to grant us Your “grace to help in time of need.” Help us to go on, and never give up.
