In early OT times evil was attributed to God (2 Samuel 24:1) and later evil was understood as not coming from God but Satan (I Chronicles 21:2). One verse said God incited David to take census and the latter said Satan prompted it. The total goodness of God changed the interpretation of an event. In the same way, the partial revelation of the OT (Hebrews 1:1ff) is now replaced with the full revelation of Christ, in whom we see that God is pure love, the essence of His being, and cannot do evil. Christians are to interpret all Scripture through the lens of Christ who is Love and Light incarnate. He came not to destroy, but to rescue.
