Both Christ and the Spirit intercede for us (Romans 8: 26, 34). Yet we are urged to offer “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1). This is more than participation in intercession. Is there an intercession where the Intercessor is interceding through the intercessors? If so, would this not be the highest form of intercession? The true intercessor does not march into the prayer closet with his or her lists for asking. We are to be so open to what the Spirit is praying that it changes our praying; when this happens, we are now praying what the Intercessor is praying.
